How to check whether my email client is using POP or IMAP configuration?

A. For MS Outlook Express users.

  1. Select "Accounts..." under the "Tools" pull down menu.
  2. Select the tab "Mail" near the top.
  3. Select an account name corresponding to your staff mail inside the window e.g.mail.cityu.edu.hk and click on "Properties" near the right.
  4. Click on the "Servers" tab near the top.
  5. Locate the item "My incoming mail server is a ... server." (near the top) and check whether it is POP or IMAP.

 

 

 

B. For Eudora users.

  1. Please select "Options..." under the "Tools" pull down menu.
  2. From the "Options" window, select "Incoming Mail" from the left.
  3. Locate the first item "Server configuration" (near the top) and  check whether the "POP" or "IMAP" radio button is checked..
