How to switch my email client from Eudora to Outlook Express?

Following is the suggested procedure for switching your email client software from Eudora to Outlook Express:

  1. Start Outlook Express via one of the following ways:
    • from Windows Start Menu: select Programs -> Outlook Express
    • If Outlook Express has been specified as default Email program, it can be started from Internet Explorer (IE): select the top menu items Tools -> Mail and News -> Read Mail

  2. Set up your Mail Account(s) in Outlook Express. Please click here for detailed information.

  3. Import your Eudora local mailboxes from Eudora to Outlook Express. Please click here for the details.
    Notes:
    • Your Eudora mailboxes still exist on your PC after importing into Outlook Express. You still can use Eudora to access them afterwards.
    • Most of messages and attachments in Eudora mailboxes can be successfully imported into Outlook Express , but a few of them might be not.
    • Outgoing mail messages, if they were composed in Eudora styled text (HTML) format, will be displayed in HTML source code format in Outlook Express after they are imported from Eudora.

  4. Import your Eudora Address Books from Eudora to Outlook Express. Please click here for the details.
    Notes:
    • Since Eudora's default domain function is not available in Outlook Express, after importing your Eudora address books to Outlook Express, you must check each address entry and add back the "domain address" to those addresses which entered in "partial" address format when they were created in Eudora. (i.e. for example, cctom must be changed to cctom@cityu.edu.hk)

After then, you can use Outlook Express instead of Eudora  to handle your email activity.
