The email system can be accessed through two methods:
(1) by WebMail, which is a
web-based application.
(2) by regular email clients that support
the IMAP protocol (e.g.
Microsoft Outlook Express 6, Outlook 2003... etc.)
You are recommended to use regular email clients when you are accessing your email account through your dedicated PC. For example: you own a dedicated PC (a) at home, (b) in your office. The following is the configuration:

Note: The SMTP server smtp.cityu.edu.hk (for staff) / stdsmtp.cityu.edu.hk (for student) / alsmtp.cityu.edu.hk (for alumni) can be used only if you are connecting Internet at campus. If you are connecting Internet via other ISP, you must use the SMTP server provided by your ISP except connect CityU's VPN.
