General Email Services: Frequently Asked Questions


How to check my disk quota and usage?

  1. From the Email Services web page, click on the "Quota & Account Profile" option which will bring out the following page:. 

  2. Key in your account name and password. Then press the "Apply" button.

 

  1. Click "Quota Usage" option as below

 

  1. Then you will see a page similar to the following information about your quota usage. Please check the Quota Usage (Details) section to see which folders have used most of your quota.

Quota Usage (Summary)
Your mailbox diskquota is: 10240 (KB)
Your current disk consumption is: 10240 (KB)
You have used 100% of your mailbox disk quota

Quota Usage (Details)

Note: Quota Usage (Details) would be empty if your mailbox has not yet been used before

  1. If you find that the usage of the "Trash (or DELETED)" folder in your mailbox (the line "user/(your-id)/Trash" under the "Quota Usage (Details)") is high, you need to delete messages in that folder in order to free up space in your mailbox. Please refer to the FAQ page How to clean up my mailbox? for details of clean up mailbox with WebMail 2.0. Please remember to check your updated quota usage again after doing the clean up.
     
  2. If you find the figure shown in the sentence "You have used nn% of your mailbox disk quota" under "Quota Usage (Summary)" is below 90% (it would be better if it is below 80%), the disk quota usage of your mailbox has resumed normal. You may discard the "mailbox full" warning message(s) previously sent to you.
     
  3. If your mailbox is still full after doing the above steps, please copy the information under "Quota Usage (Summary)" and "Quota Usage (Details)" into your reply/query then send it to Postmaster (Mail Administrator) for further investigation.
